"Not flexible enough for what I need"
I’ve been trying to make this work, but it just isn’t flexible enough for my needs. There are a few things I expected to be able to adjust more easily, and it’s been frustrating to deal with. If this doesn’t improve soon, I’ll probably have to look for another option...

"Pretty buggy and slow"
I wanted to like it, but it’s just been kind of frustrating. The app feels slow most of the time, and I keep running into bugs that make simple things take way longer than they should. Sometimes it works fine for a bit, then suddenly... yeah, not great. Hopefully they fix it soon.

"Way too confusing for beginners"
I really wanted to vibe with Toon Boom, but the learning curve is kinda brutal. The second I opened it, basically nothing felt straightforward. Even simple stuff took me forever to figure out, and the menus had me going in circles. I watched a bunch of tutorials too, but I still felt lost most of the time. Maybe it’s awesome if you’re already a pro, but as a beginner, it was just mad frustrating. I ended up giving up after a few days.

"Training videos weren’t as helpful as I hoped"
I’ve used other training videos before that walked me through things step by step, so these were frustrating by comparison. The tutorials felt a bit scattered and outdated, and I kept getting stuck on basic parts that weren’t explained clearly. it didn’t feel worth the time

"I had a annoying time…"
I had a annoying time trying to open Toon Boom files between different versions. A few things just broke or didn’t look the same after I imported them, and it basically wasted my whole afternoon. For how much it costs, I expected the compatibility to be way better. Just really frustrating to deal with.

I use Toon Boom for animation work, the tools themselves are solid. It does a lot well, so I get why people like it. But from the way the workflow feels, I kind of assume it was built more for power users than for keeping things quick and smooth. Simple tasks can take too many clicks, the panels start feeling messy, and once a project gets bigger, it can lag a bit. It’s not terrible or anything, but when I’m trying to work fast, it definitely gets annoying.

"Couldn't Get It to Recognize My Tablet"
I really wanted this to work, but it just would not detect my drawing tablet. I kept thinking, okay, maybe a reinstall will fix it... nope. Tried that, still nothing. Then I went through the support pages hoping I missed some obvious setting, but they didn’t help much either. Frustrating experience overall.

The animation tools are definitely powerful, but using them has been way messier than I expected. Rigging was confusing from the start, and the app crashed on me way too many times. For the price, I really expected the smoother workflow they kept promising, but it just didn’t feel like they delivered.

"I gave Toon Boom a try for…"
I gave Toon Boom a try for drawing, and while I can see why a lot of people like it, it didn’t really click for me. Some of the tools seem powerful, and the program definitely has potential, but actually using it felt awkward. The brushes would lag here and there, and I found the settings kind of confusing to figure out. For the price, I expected a smoother experience and better drawing tools. I wanted to like it, but I ended up getting frustrated quickly.

"Way too slow"
It was so slow that I just gave up. I kept waiting and waiting, but nothing seemed to improve, so I ended up not bothering with it anymore.

"Charged but still locked out"
I got charged, but my account still shows that I don’t have access. I kept checking to see if there was some delay or pattern to when it might update, but nothing changed. Frustrating to pay and then still be unable to use what you paid for.

"Mac version left me guessing"
I used this on Mac and ran into issues quickly, which was frustrating because the Windows version seems to work differently. I felt a bit left in the dark trying to figure out what was going wrong or whether the Mac version was supposed to behave the same way. It would be really helpful if the differences were explained more clearly.

"Still Waiting on Support"
I reached out to support thinking it would be a quick thing, or at least that someone would point me in the right direction, but I just never heard back. I kept checking my email, even my spam folder, because maybe I missed it, but nope, nothing. It’s frustrating because I didn’t need a huge explanation or anything, just some kind of response would’ve been nice...

"Not great for my workflow"
I tried hooking it up with the tools I already use in my pipeline, but it kept breaking on me. I reached out to support hoping for some actual guidance, and they mostly just sent over basic help links. Super frustrating. Anyway, I really wanted this to work, but it ended up being more hassle than it was worth.

I tried using the rigging tools, but they felt really clunky and confusing. They kept messing up my setup, which made the whole process unnecessarily frustrating. For me, it just wasn’t worth the headache

I tried going through the tutorials, but some parts felt like they were made for an older version and didn’t always line up with what I was seeing. I managed to get through them, but there were definitely moments where I had to figure things out on my own

"Support wasn’t what I expected"
I ran into a license issue the support experience was frustrating. I’ve dealt with software support plenty of times before, so I’m not expecting instant miracles, but this took days just to get replies. When they did respond, they mostly sent links to articles I had already read. I asked some basic follow-up questions and still didn’t get a clear answer. For software at this price, I really expected better help. In the end, it felt like I was mostly left to figure it out on my own.

"Honestly, More Hassle Than Help"
I really wanted to like it, but there are just way too many clicks to get anything done and the panels load so slowly that I kept sitting there waiting, getting annoyed, trying again, clicking around, wondering if I was missing something, and by the end it just felt like way more stress than it was worth.

"Really wanted to like it, but it was frustrating"
I wanted to enjoy using Toon Boom, but I ended up disappointed. Even simple things felt harder than they needed to be, and the menus were confusing enough that I kept having to look up videos just to do basic tasks. I’m sure it might be great for people who already know animation software, but as someone just trying to learn, it felt overwhelming. After a few days of struggling with it, I gave up.
